Salwa Kinsey is an accomplished educator currently serving as the Principal of Pembroke Academy, part of National Heritage Academies. She is a part of the founding administrative team since the school opened during the 2018-2019 school year. Prior to this, she held roles as Dean of Intervention and Special Education, Reading Specialist, and Elementary School Teacher all within the same organization.
Ms. Kinsey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Michigan (2006) and a Master’s degree from the same institution (2011), along with a Reading Specialist endorsement. She also completed the Educational Leadership Program Administrator’s Certificate at Grand Valley State University in 2013.
Ms. Kinsey is deeply committed to creating a supportive educational environment that fosters academic success and personal growth. She emphasizes the importance of teamwork among staff, students, and families to ensure each child’s well-being and success. Her goal is for every child to develop a love for learning, perseverance, and a strong sense of their individual goals and dreams.
Outside of education, Ms. Kinsey enjoys cooking and trying new recipes as well as traveling and spending time with family. She firmly believes in the peaceful teachings of Mr. Rogers and Ghandi and building the attitude of gratitude along with the importance of upliftment of communities to help build a positive path for all. She appreciates inspirational quotes from leaders like Stephen Covey and Mahatma Gandhi.
